Walter (Gromek-Johnson), A. Edith
Edith passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Borgess Gardens. Edith was born on April 3, 1929 in the Gobles farmhouse of her parents, Michael and Anna (Mucha) Gromek. Preceding her in death were her three brothers William, Ted, and Edwin Gromek; her sister Adeline Thorpe, and husband Leo Walter. Edith is survived by her two daughters Cathy (Jack) Ullrey of Kalamazoo, and Rhonda (David) Orchanian of Portage, six grandchildren, Jessica Ullrey, Tim (Erika) Ullrey, David Ullrey, and Joseph, Ben, and Rosemary Orchanian, two great-grandchildren, Jackson Petersen and Molly Ullrey, sister Helen Kepp; and many nieces and nephews. Edith worked as an accounting clerk at Gobles TV, Tapper Oldsmobile, and Western Michigan University. In retirement, Edith volunteered with the Consignment Store for the American Cancer Society and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Gobles United Methodist Church with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Gobles Education Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or Borgess Gardens.
