Alice (Hendricks) Britten, 91, was born on December 13, 1928 in Kalamazoo, MI. to Peter Hendricks and Daatje Dijsselhof. Her life ended on August 22, 2020 in Three Rivers.
Alice grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, attended Kalamazoo Christian and worked at Gibson Guitar for 32 years until her retirement in 1985. She married Theo Britten on May 15, 1946.
Alice was preceded by her parents, husband Theo, sister, Marie Goodwin, brother John Hendricks, and daughter Judy Hyet.
She is survived by her brother George (Vera) Hendricks sister-in-law Peggy Hendricks. Children; Jackie (Bill) Tucholke, Ed (Judy Hoeksema) and John (Leslie Kidder) ; Grandchildren: Craig, Travis, David, Scott, Kayla, Zach, Amber and Josh, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Alice lived in Mattawan until her retirement from Gibson when she moved to Winter Springs, Florida with her sister Marie. In 2014 she returned to Michigan where she resided with Jackie and Bill in Marcellus. She was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzling, watching the waterfowl on Cedar Lake and attending the Gibson annual reunion.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you and appreciation for the staff and nurses who provided kindness and special care for Alice while she resided at Heartland Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Three Rivers. At her request, there will be a graveside service to be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Marcellus Community Food Pantry.
