Allen Richard Mills

Allen "Al" Richard Mills-- beloved father, grandfather, and friend-- passed away on February 22, 2019 in the presence of his family. Al was born in Albion in October 1953 to Maria and Richard "Dick" Mills. He was a lifetime resident of the Galesburg area and worked at the Pfizer (formerly Upjohn) manufacturing facility in Portage for over 35 years until his retirement in February 2019. Al was loved by his coworkers and always did his best to ensure that the people around him enjoyed their time at work. He always knew how to make someone laugh, especially when a bit of levity was needed. Al was a generous friend, a loyal man, a caring son and brother, a doting father, and a very fun Grandpa. He appreciated all sorts of technology, gadgets, and classic cars. Al spent his leisure-time lifting weights, playing video games, shooting pool, watching movies, riding motorcycles, and detailing vehicles. He also loved spending quality time with his two granddaughters. Al was preceded in death by his father, Dick Mills. He leaves behind his mother Maria Mills; his brother Daniel (Anne) Mills; his daughter Angie (Jon) Glynn, and two granddaughters, Margie and Emma. He also leaves behind a number of dear friends in Bldg 121, Bldg 120, Bldg 38, Bldg 89, and Bldg 41 at the Pfizer Plant in Portage. A memorial service is being planned for Spring 2019; the family will provide details on arrangements once plans are finalized. The family asks that expressions of sympathy are made to one or more of the following: Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, the Temple Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, the Galesburg Athletic Booster Club, the Woodland Wildcats Elementary PTO, the West Michigan Cancer Center, or the Kalamazoo-Area United Way.
