Amos Allgyer

Amos Allgyer, of Climax, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the age of 89. Amos was born on January 23, 1932 in Gap, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Aaron and Rachel (Lapp) Allgyer. Amos was a letter carrier with the postal service for 30 years. He always enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He also loved spending time gardening, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and an occasional trip to the casino. Amos is survived by his children, Katie (Carl) Arndt, Amos Allgyer Jr., Harrold Allgyer, Janet (Bob) Thayer, and Anna (Brian) Matecun; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Emanual Allgyer, Rebecca Blank, Aaron Allgyer; and many nieces and nephews. Amos is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lorrain Purk; his parents; and his sister Hannah Stolfoos. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am on July 23, 2021 in the chapel at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Rd., Kalamazoo, MI. Pastor Bret Laird and Dan Johnson officiating. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Shepherd’s Center of Kalamazoo, 1833 S.
