Andrew Schero, age 77, of Kalamazoo, Michigan passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012 unexpectedly at his home. He was born May 27, 1935 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Angelo and J. Vincinzina (DiSalvo) Schero. On May 22, 1954, he married Phyllis Arlene Rowley who preceded him in death on August 19, 2007. Andy spent the majority of his career in the paper industry in and around the Kalamazoo area and was loved and respected by his co-workers from Allied Paper, Fullers/Eaton Corp., Brown Co., James Rivers, and finally Crown Vantage from where he retired in 2002. In his later years, he was a regular winner at bingo events held on Bank Street and at the Hazel Grey Building and thought of his fellow bingo players as a second family and the game as his full-time job. Andy will be missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Pauline, his brother Robert; and two daughters Diane and Elizabeth. He is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Biron, Kristeen Schero-Longe, and Kelleen Wade, and one son Andrew Schero, Jr.; two sisters Maria Cummins and Rosalie Galich and one brother Johnny; eleven grandchildren, and eight great grand-children.
The family will hold a memorial service at Mount Everest Chapel located at 3941 South Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, Michigan 49008 on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with coffee service to follow at a location to be announced at the memorial service.
