Anna Marie Dunn passed away Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 at the age of 16. Anna was born November 17th, 2003 almost three months early. Weighing in at 2 pounds 3 oz, she was a fighter from the beginning.
Anna touched so many with her strength and kindness. Though her time here was short, her impact still rings strong among her family and friends. Anna endured many obstacles, but continued to radiate passion in every aspect of life and was loved by many. She was witty and reliable, strong beyond her stature, and kind to the core. She was also silly and very much a typical teenager at times. She had friends from 5-years-olds, past teachers, her nurses, neighborhood grandmas, and everyone in between. Her strength and fight, though solid, never overshadowed her love for life. Anna has left a permanent mark on so many hearts.
At the age of 9, Anna was diagnosed with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy which would require a heart transplant. She fought through her diagnosis with courage and fierceness and never stopped living her life. At the age of 14, God blessed Anna with her new heart. She continued to fight for more than two years with frequent hospital stays. The staff at C.S. Mott’s Hospital became family to her.
Anna passed away unexpectedly due to complications from her long battle with heart disease.
She is survived by her mother, Diane Bauman; step-mother, Susanne Hartley; sister, Tiea Jones; Brother, Jordan Mays; Sister, Lexi Peterson; Sister, Mackenzie Mayfield; Paternal Grandparents, Patricia and Michael Dunn of Battle Creek; Maternal Grandparents, Mark (Christy) and Ulrike Anderson; many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends, two dogs; Little Girl and Little boy; and two Guinea pigs, Ferb and Lenard. Anna is preceded in death by her father, Brandon Scott Dunn of Battle Creek.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 21st at 2:00 PM at the Schoolcraft Township Cemetery on the corner of US 131 and West Lyons Street (WVW Ave). A celebration of life will be held immediately after at Schrier Park located at 850 West Osterhout Avenue, Portage, Michigan.
