Anne Francine Kryger

Francine, age 89, passed away August 17, 2016 at Rose Arbor. She was born November 12, 1926, in The Hague, Netherlands. She spent her early years in the Dutch East Indies where her father was a draftsman with a Dutch construction company. When the Japanese invaded, Francine and her parents were placed in an internment camp for the duration of the war where her father died. After the war Francine and her mom returned to the Netherlands where she married John Kryger. They immigrated to the US in 1956 with three-year-old son Arnold. Later, as a single mother, she worked as a bookkeeper and then accountant at Ermisch travel. Upon retiring, she volunteered for the Red Cross where she was involved with accounting and disaster relief in over 33 national disasters across the country. Francine was also active with the First Presbyterian church for many years. She was a beloved Mother, Oma, and Tante. Francine loved zebras and travel. During her travels around the world she would collect spoons and zebras from everywhere she visited. Francine was very skilled at knitting and could create everything from full-size blankets to Barbie doll clothes for her grandkids. She loved to spend time with her grandkids and passed on her love of travel and Dutch heritage to them. Francine is survived by her son Arnold Kryger (Deborah), grandchildren Stephanie Kryger and Andrea (Brad) Bierema, nieces Audrey (Mark) VanWalbeck and Cara Woolsey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franciscus and Barbara (Pakker) Kloot, daughter Barbara Kryger, and infant son, Edwin Kryger. There will be a private memorial service and burial of cremains at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
