Anne Marie Stader

We regretfully announce the passing of Anne Marie "Annie" Stader of Kalamazoo, MI on January 21, 2023. Annie was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully. Our mother, known affectionately by her grandchildren as Grandma Annie, was a funny, intelligent, and charismatic woman and will be greatly missed by many. Annie was born in Nyack, NY, at the foot of Hook Mountain, by her beloved Hudson River.  She graduated from Nyack High School after spending many years at St. Ann School.  After graduating, she went on to pursue a career in nursing, and later Montessori education and psychology.  She married Duane Morris of Valley Cottage, NY and they had 2 daughters together. She met Charles (Chuck) Stader of Clayton, CA in 1974, and they were happily married for 47 years. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Nyack, NY and St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Kalamazoo, MI. Annie was a life-long learner with an intense passion for reading since she was a young child. She spent her life working for social justice in any way she could. She is fondly remembered for her creative style and unique gifts, always wanting to help others experience the joys of diverse cultures.

Annie was predeceased by: Her mother and father Rose Wooton and George Knieriem, her sister Letitia, sister Frances, and brother George.

Anne is survived by her loving and devoted husband Chuck Stader, daughters Heather Summer and Jennifer (Jenne) Roberts, grandchildren Matthew and Leah Stratton, Anthony, Nicholas, and Sarah Summer, sisters Kathleen, June, and Rosemary.

Anne has been cremated and there are no services scheduled at this time.
