Ardath Helen Robertson

Ardath Helen “Albring” Robertson of Portage, MI passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021, in Kalamazoo, MI at the age of 86. She was born on Tuesday, April 30, 1935 in Temperance, MI the daughter of Beryl N and Helen “Kimerer” Albring. She was raised on a dairy farm in Temperance, MI. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1953, following graduation she went to Michigan State College from 1954 until 1958 graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Foods and Nutrition. On June 21, 1958 she married the love of her life Keith Robertson in Erie, MI, together they raised 3 children. Once her children were old enough she started working as the Food Service Director at the Clinton, IA school district. She continued to work as a School Food Service Director after the family moved to Pittsburgh, PA. When it came time to move again she became the Corporate Food Service Director for Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, IL. Outside of her career Ardath was an accomplished seamstress, flower gardener, and after retirement she was a dedicated quilter. She was a member of the American Quilters Society, Kalamazoo Nature Center, and Tillers International. She was active in the Chicago Chapter of the Celiac Society of America as Chapter President for one year and Secretary of the National Society for one year. All three of her children received a college education. She is preceded in her passing by her parents, brothers: Beryl E and Lynn Albring; daughter-in-law: Jane Bowman Robertson; and son-in-law: James Frye. Left to cherish her loving memory is her husband of 63 years: Keith Robertson; children: Cynthia Frye, Peter (Lori Evesque) Robertson, and Douglas (Susan Dolph) Robertson; grandchildren: Jeffery, James (Jeannie), Joseph, Molly, Emma (Octavian Condet), and Olivia. In accordance with the family’s wishes a celebration of Ardath’s life will be held on Her next Birthday, April 30, 2022. The location will be the Kalamazoo Nature Center. For those wishing to make a contribution in Ardath's memory , the family suggests Michigan Nature Association, Ascention Borgess Cancer Center, Michigan 4H Foundation or Kalamazoo Nature Center.
