Arlene Hilda Guthrie

Arlene Hilda Guthrie passed away on May 20,2074. She was born on December 7, 192l in Kalamazoo, MI. She is the daughter of Herman and Bertha Hunt. A brother Robert and sister Sylvia proceeded her in death. Arlene attended Kalamazoo Central High School and married Ted Guthrie in 1945 and he remained the only love of her life. Ted passed away on their 54th wedding anniversary in July of 1999. Arlene was the City Clerk for Galesburg, MI for 25 years and she enjoyed serving the City of Galesburg and the community during her employment with them. She was actively involved with Animals Best Friends for most of her life and regularly volunteered and supported them, Arlene is survived by her two sons, Tom &Ted Guthrie who reside in Vicksburg, MI and Sarasota, Fl her daughter-in-law Phyllis Guthrie and her 2 grandchildren Adam Guthrie & Kelly Guthrie. Her only daughter, Diane Guthrie passed away 9 years ago on May 20, 2005. Arlene had a wonderful sense of humor, always willing to help a neighbor and loved life and her family. A memorial service will be held 11am Saturday June 28, 2014 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Galesburg, MI. In lieu of flowers, a request from Arlene is to make a donation to the Animals Best Friend Society in her name. Arlene will be missed by her family, friends and her dear animal friends.
