Arlene J. Newton

August 2, 1933 — May 13, 2023

Gobles

Arlene Joan Newton of Plainwell, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 13, 2023 at the age of 89.

She was born in Plainwell on August 2nd, 1933, the daughter of Clyde and Alma Rock. At 21 years of age, she was introduced to Eugene (Bill) Newton, who happened to be her sister Corrine's brother-in-law. Arlene and Bill were married soon after in December of 1954.

Arlene loved her family deeply and was a devoted wife and mother. After several years of searching for a lake home, they found one on North Lake near Gobles MI. They moved there in the summer of 1969, providing a great place to raise four boys. It did not take long for them to be warmly welcomed into the "North Lake Family". They lived there the rest of their married lives.

Arlene was a straight forward, open, and friendly kind of a person. She kept busy raising the boys, cooking, canning, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. If you had an emergency sewing repair, she was the one to go to.

Arlene began attending the Church of God in Otsego in 1995, where she found many ways to contribute with all of her special talents. She was good at organizing and preparing food, so helping with the churches‘ funeral lunches came naturally. Arlene was always there to lend a hand and share the many talents that the Lord blessed her with. She will be greatly missed.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Eugene (Bill) Newton, her brother Don (Connie) Rock, her sisters Corrine Andersen, and Inez Bonnell, and a son Dale (Kathy) Newton.

She is survived by her sons Roger Newton, Joel (Connie) Newton, Brian Newton: grandchildren Dale (Marcy) Newton II, Craig Newton, Lisa (Jud) Schmitt, Adam (Celina) Newton, Jacob Newton, Crystal Newton, Michael Newton, Brian Thomas, great and great-great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on May 31st at the Otsego Church of God. Visitation is from 10-11AM, service at 11AM with luncheon to follow. Memorial gifs may be made to the Otsego Church of God or to Centrica Hospice Care.

The family is being cared for by Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes; Plainwell Chapel (269 685-5881.
