Arliss Jeanne Mendham

Arliss Jeanne Mendham, age 99, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024. She was born May 30, 1924 in Kalamazoo MI to Leon & Wilma Alman of Delton MI. 

She graduated in 1942 from Portage High School. She married Owen J. Mendham. February 21,1943. She was a homemaker, loved flowers & gardening. Spent most of her time raising her 5 children. 

In the year of 1963 Arliss and her husband Jim built the West Lake Drive-In and worked there for 25 years before retiring and passing the business to their son Jeff in 1989. Jeff owned and operated the West Lake Drive-In until 2013. The couple settled down in Newaygo, MI for their golden years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, Son James, daughter-in-law Gloria Caswell. Son-in-laws Frank Sabia & David Brown, grandson David Mendham and Great Granddaughter Kaylee Mendham.

Arliss is survived by her children: Barbara, Bonnie, Nancy & Jeff; her grandchildren: Dan, (Aimee) Mendham, Julie (Mike) Arnold, Thomas (Alisha)Mendham, Mike (Nicole) Brown, Jason (Rachael) Mendham, Scott(Jennifer) Brown; and many great grandchildren.

In accordance with the family’s wishes cremation has taken place and no public services will be held.
