Audrey Dee Shanlian entered her heavenly home on July 26, 2017. She was a resident of the Alamo Nursing home in Kalamazoo, MI. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Albert and daughter, Wendy. She is survived by 9 children: Dr. Michael Shanlian, The Villages, FL; Rhonda Messner, Clinton, OH; David Shanlian, Wooster, OH; Charles Shanlian, Schoolcraft, MI; Kevin Shanlian, Otisville, MI; Amy Rutherford, Graniteville, SC; Marcy Shanlian Gamble; Mason City, IA; Carrie Shanlian Grom, Downer's Grove, IL; Scott Shanlian, Howell, MI; as well as 28 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Although Audrey had her large family, she did find time and energy to start a long career with Avon. She was often recognized not as Audrey, but the "Avon Lady." She had numerous awards for being a top producer.
When it came to her children and grandchildren, Audrey was always available with a cup of tea or coffee, to sit and chat into the wee hours of the morning to listen about your life and share her wisdom. If you were lucky, there might be some fresh baked cookies or apple cake in the kitchen. Audrey and her late husband Al (Daddy) loved the UP. It was always their dream to live there after raising their houseful of kids. They enjoyed sightseeing, especially in the fall, taking day trips and walking through the woods together to get to their favorite waterfall.
Her children and grandchildren rise up and call her blessed. Audrey's legacy will be felt for generations to come. She will be missed, but not forgotten by those whose lives she touched.
A memorial service is planned for October 14th at the existing grave site of Albert and daughter Wendy in Garden, MI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Audrey's home will be established at the Alamo Nursing Home to provide uniforms for Staff members in need.
