Barbara A Bredow

Barbara “Barb” A. Bredow (Fretz) passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, at the age of 92. She was born on January 27, 1929, in Newberry, Michigan the daughter of Merle and Anna Fretz (Morrill). On October 25, 1958, she married the love of her life William H. Bredow, together they raised three sons. She was a Plainwell resident for 50 years. She is preceded in her passing by her parents, husband, and her siblings: Alice Otto, Mary Lee Heinz, and William Fretz; Left to cherish her loving memory are her sons: Roger (Janice), Allan, and Mark (Valerie); grandchildren: Will, Tyler, Sophie, Lily, Emma, and Isaac; and many nieces and nephews. Barb was an alumni of the University of Michigan’s Nursing Program and later in life received her Bachelor’s of Science from Western Michigan University. She was a nurse at Pipp Hospital and Fontbonne Manor. She enjoyed music, golf, genealogy, and spending time with her friends. In accordance with the family’s wishes a public time of visitation will be held at McCowen & Secord Family Funeral Homes Marshall-Gren Chapel, 120 S. Woodhams St, Plainwell, Michigan 49080, on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Barbara will be laid to rest with William on a later date. Memorials made in Barbara’s memory may be directed to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
