Barbara Ann Burgess

Passed away Sunday Oct. 18, 2009. Barbara was born Feb. 15, 1934 in Lakewood, Ohio the daughter of W. Herbert and A. Dorothy (Stanley) Stewart. Barbara was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was graduated with honors and a bachelor's degree and later a master's degree from WMU. She had been on the faculty of Parchment Public Schools and Kalamazoo Public Schools and she also served as a GED Test administrator. Barb loved teaching, reading, traveling, antiquing, gardening and playing bridge. She married Dennis Burgess Aug. 20, 1955 who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons; Christopher Stewart (Janet) Burgess and David Warren (Barbara) Burgess. Preceding her in death was her brother; Stanley M. Stewart. At her request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 10am Friday Oct. 23, 2009 at the Parchment United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Miner officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parchment Community Library or Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes.
