Barbara Marie Egge

Egge, Barbara Marie (Masar) 04/10/1957 – 05/09/2021 Plainwell, MI Barbara Marie Egge, 64 of Plainwell, MI passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at home surrounded by love ones. Barbara was born April 10, 1957 in Denville, NJ to John Joseph Masar and A. Elizabeth Masar (Wendt). Barbara and her husband Donald Allen Egge were married 42 years. Barbara is survived in addition to Donald by daughter Emily Elizabeth Egge and son-in-law Pawel Konczyk (Playa del Carmen, Mexico), son Joshua Allen Egge and daughter-in-law Brynn Egge (Murphy) (Kalamazoo, MI) and four grandchildren Felix Konczyk, Oscar Konczyk, Beckham Egge and Scout Egge. A native of Montville, NJ, Barbara is predeceased by her parents and sister Judith Perrson (Masar). As a long-time music educator, Barbara touched the lives of countless children in her home state of New Jersey and Michigan. Barbara started her teaching career in Kinnelon, NJ and continued serving students in Randolph (NJ) Public Schools. After relocating to Michigan, Barbara continued her teaching career at Gull Lake Community Schools, Richland, MI initially as the high school choir director and expanding responsibilities to include K-5 general music education. Barbara concluded her education career at Franklin Township School, Quakertown, NJ teaching elementary through middle-school general and choral music. Barbara earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from William Paterson College, Wayne, NJ and Masters of Arts in Teaching in the Elementary School from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI. Barbara achieved numerous professional certifications and was a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Michigan School Vocal Music Association and Southwest Michigan Vocal Music Festival. Barbara’s passion for vocal and piano music extended beyond her professional career and was pursued through numerous outlets. Barbara was a member of the choir at the First Presbyterian Church, Boonton, NJ, Richland Presbyterian Church, Richland, MI, and Pittstown Presbyterian Church, Pittstown, NJ. Barbara was also a member of the Kalamazoo College Bach Festival Choir. Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grand-mother. Barbara was outgoing, loved to travel and enjoyed the company of others recognizing the importance of friends. Despite her physical limitations, Barbara lived her life full of joy, optimism and grace. She will be dearly missed and cherished forever. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Barbara’s life will take place at a later date. Donations in Barbara’s memory are encouraged to be made to the Wings of Hope Hospice, Allegan, MI, the MS Society or CJD Foundation.
