Barbara Marie Shearer, born in Leavenworth, Kansas, on July 25, 1943, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of Robert J. Luckey and Amelia (Maria) Luckey.
Barbara graduated from Portage Central High School in 1961. On December 27, 1965, Barbara married Raymond M. Shearer, with whom she shared 57 years of love and companionship. Together, they built a life filled with joy and devotion to family.
Barbara was a dedicated mother to Kim (Mike) Wolbers of Wisconsin, Sheri (Dave) MacDonald of Vicksburg, MI, and Andrew (Shirin) Shearer of Austin, TX. She was a proud grandmother to Brandon (Taryn) Shearer-Chapman, Hannah and Kloey Wolbers, Kendall Shearer, Jasmine and Evan Ghalambor and cherished her great-grandchildren Sophia and Emma Shearer-Chapman.
Barbara's commitment extended beyond her immediate family. She supported her husband in his many business ventures and later pursued her own dreams by earning an associate degree in Medical Assisting from KVCC. Her 27-year career with Promed Borgess was marked by dedication and compassion.
She was a constant presence at her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, always cheering and supporting them rain or shine. Barbara’s love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life. Her culinary talents, especially her renowned apple pie, will be dearly missed.
Barbara is survived by her siblings: Mary (Mike) Korteway of Scotts, MI; Terry McKillip (Christine) of Wisconsin; and Bob Luckey of Cadillac. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Carol Shearer, Chuck (Mary) Shearer, Kathy Shearer, Dorothy Shearer, Denise Shearer, and Mary (Nghiem) Nguyen, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Centrica Hospice Care of Kalamazoo.
Barbara's legacy of love, support, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
