Barbara Louise Vitale

BARBARA L.VITALE, 89,of Augusta, passed away January 17, 2010, at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo,Michigan. She was born February 19,1920 in the Upper Peninsula near Blaney Park. She was a resident of Albion for 56 years. Barbara and her husband Guy moved to Augusta, to be near their daughter Shirley, August 2006. Barbara married Guy W.Vitale in Albion on December 1, 1945. They were married 64 years. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with Guy. They made many trips to Idaho,Wyoming and the U.P. She also enjoyed homemaking, reading, bowling, camping and gardening. Barbara was an excellent cook and seamstress. However, her best qualities were her kindness to others and her care for her family. She always had open arms and a warm smile for all she met. She was loved by all those whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed. Barbara is survived by her husband Guy; her daughters Virginia J. Sturgill of Sagle, Idaho and Shirley Blakely and husband John of Augusta; her 12 grandchildren: Barbara Taylor, Chris Sturgill, Zane Sturgill,LoriAnn Boatwright, Jeff Pickens, Kelly Ezbenko, Chad Blakely, Dave Blakely, Kara Rohrstaff, Bruce Vitale, Eve Vitale and Todd Sloan; 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Roger Vitale and her grandson Wesley Guy Sturgill. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetary in Augusta, Michigan, promptly at 1:30 pm, Friday, January 22, 2010. Pastor Mark Jennings, First Presbytarian Church of Richland will be officiating. Visitation with family immediately following service at the home of grandson Jeff Pickens.
