Beverly Joyce Evers of Portage, MI, passed away peacefully in the loving hands of her family, hospice and The Lord on October 22, 2015 in Kalamazoo, MI. Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held at Avink Funeral Home in Schoolcraft on Monday, November 2 from 2-4PM. Beverly was born in Alpena, MI to Peter and Laura Datema on December 14. 1929. She graduated from Alpena HS and acquired her life long love of music, sewing and art from her parents and teachers. Beverly was married to Wesley L. Evers for over 50 years and they raised their family and owned and operated a restaurant business in Portage for over 30 years. They retired to Avon Park, FL and enjoyed a life time of golf, travel and wonderful friendships. Over the years, Beverly participated in 4-H, Borgess Service League and enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, quilting, entertaining, playing bridge/cards and spending time with family and friends. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Laura Datema, Step Father Fred Newman, brothers Paul, Howard, Don, sister Phyllis Kolin, son Michael and great granddaughter, Kaitlin. Beverly is survived by her son John (Kathy), daughters Brenda (David) Deona, Marsha (Bob) Ostrowski, Gail (Jeff) Elliott and grandchildren Michael (Kelle) Evers, Jodi and Kelly Evers, Jennifer (Jeff) Gorcyca, Laura (Jim) Hall, Lindsey (Matt) Law, Austin and Alaina Elliott. Also many great-grandchildren and special nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Rose Arbor Hospice Center, Kalamazoo MI or the charity of your choice. The Family would like to extend their gratitude to Medilodge of Portage and Rose Arbor Hospice for their caring support in her final days. Cremation has taken place. The family will recieve friends at the Avink Funeral Home Cremation Society 129 S. Grand in Schoolcraft Monday Nov. 2, 2015 from 2-4pm.
