Bonnie Jean Shepherd, age 83, of Big Fish Lake, Marcellus, MI passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016.
She was born January 8, 1933 in Elkhart, IN the only child of Robert LeRoy and Susan Janetta (Fager) Vickers. On January 17, 1965 she married Henry Shepherd who preceded her in death on September 22, 1997.
Bonnie was an active member of the Big Fish Lake Property Owners Association for many years. She leaves behind many friends there. She was very close to her many neighbors who stayed throughout the summer from various other areas. She was a member of the local and regional Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America. Bonnie worked many years as an aide with the Marcellus Public School system. She returned to school at Southwestern Michigan College to advance her education in accounting. She graduated with an associate degree and became a professional tax preparer eventually working for H & R Block in Three Rivers. She retired from there in 2013. She leaves behind many close friends from there and the entire community.
She is survived by three sons, Steven A. (Cheri) Shepherd, DeVon E. (Rosemary) Shepherd both of Marcellus, John H (Analda) Shepherd of Junction City, KS, two adopted daughters, Karen (Richard) Shepherd Alexander of Indianapolis, IN and Beverly (Jack) Gohn of Billings, MT; twelve grandchildren, Marc Shepherd of Arkansas, Jennifer Shepherd of Germany, John P. (Caley) Shepherd of New Hampshire, Michael (Rynita) Shepherd of Kalamazoo, Robert Shepherd of Marcellus, David Shepherd, Amber (Stephen) Harris, and Matthew Shepherd all of Junction City, KS, Scott and Mark Alexander, Pam (Dale) Peters and Sandra Gohn; four great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Madison, Damien Shepherd and Oliver John Harris; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by cousins and special friends Scott & Tammy Shepherd and family.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM Friday, November 4, 2016 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM. Burial will be in Marcellus Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to
