Bonnie Jean Slager-Shepard

Bonnie Jean Roberts Slager Shepard went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by family on March 3, 2018 at the age of 84. Bonnie was born August 10, 1933 in Portage, Michigan to Lyle And Sarah Elizabeth Roberts. Bonnie was the 5th child of 7 and grew up working on the family strawberry farm. Bonnie attended school in Portage and graduated from Portage Central High School in 1951. She was married to Marvin John Slager July 11, 1952 and they had four children. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin January 14, 1985. She married Wayne Shepard December 31, 1986 and Wayne preceded Bonnie in death October 9, 2009. Bonnie enjoyed special times and outings with her children, grandchildren and Great grandchildren. She had many wonderful trips to Lake Michigan and enjoyed golfing. Bonnie Jean was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Hollis, Larry, Lyle & Lewis. Bonnie is survived by her children: Kathy Stam(Dennis), Steve Slager(Joanne), Dan Slager(Sue) and Sandra Kominek(Stephen), 12 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, brothers: Charlie Roberts(Judy), David Roberts(Leslee), sister-in-law: Betty Tuinier, along with several nieces and nephews, 4 stepchildren and several step grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Prairie Edge CRC; 9316 Oakland Dr, Portage, Mi 49024 on March 17, 2018, 10:00AM. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to: Kalamazoo Renal Support Group or National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.
