Brenda Pomeroy

Brenda C. Pomeroy of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2024, just two days after celebrating her 82nd birthday.

Brenda was born on December 2, 1942, in Hardy, Arkansas, to Cloyce and Gladys Ary. As the eldest of six children, she embraced her role as a loving and protective sister early in life. Brenda graduated from Clarkston High School in 1960 and brought her incredible work ethic and warm demeanor to her career as an Office Administrator. She lent her talents to several organizations, including The AB Dick Company and the St. Joseph County Commission on Aging, where she touched many lives with her kindness and efficiency.

In 1972, Brenda married the love of her life, Paul L. Pomeroy. Together, they built a life full of laughter, adventure, and love. Brenda cherished her family above all else and found her greatest joy in being a mother and grandmother. She was the heart of her family, always offering a listening ear, heartfelt advice, and an endless supply of love.

Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul; her parents; her brothers, Michael Ary and Maurice Ary; her sister, Anne Hensley; and her son, David Scott Spitaleri, who held a special place in her heart.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in her surviving family: her son Christopher Pomeroy of Kalamazoo; her daughter Nicole Spencer-Emerson and husband Mark of Oklahoma City; her cherished grandchildren Tyler Spencer and his wife Kyndra, Payton and Aubrey Pomeroy, Sydnay Spitaleri, and Avary Emerson; and her precious great-grandsons Easton and Tate. Brenda is also survived by her sister Gwen Cole of Belleville, her brother Doug Ary of Wayland, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Brenda will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generosity, and her warm spirit that brought light to everyone she met. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who found beauty in the simple joys of life, from sharing stories over a cup of coffee to celebrating milestones with her loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Brenda’s memory by sharing a story, a hug, or a small act of kindness—just as she so often did for those around her.

In accordance with the family’s wishes a public service will be held at Avink, McCowen and Secord Funeral Home, 5975 Lovers Lane, Portage, MI 49002, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, with a time for visiting beginning at 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Steve Surine officiating.
