Carol Dawn Kendall

Carol died October 25, 2015. She was born September 25, 1928, to Vernon and Mabelle Montague. Having grown up in Traverse City and Mason, Michigan, she came to Kalamazoo, where she graduated from Western Michigan College and met her future husband, Charles D. (Chuck) Kendall. They were married on February 4, 1950, and enjoyed over 65 years of love and devotion. Being a mother and homemaker were her greatest joys and she excelled at both. She blessed her husband, children, and all those who knew her with her strength, compassion, and generous love. She was, in truth, a guiding light for her family and set an inspiring example for others. Carol's passing is mourned by many, especially by her husband Chuck, their children and significant others, Laurie (John) Brown and Karla (Greg) Goodman of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Reed (Marcia) Kendall of Delton, Michigan, Charley Kendall, M.D. (Pat Huckendubler) of Duluth, Minnesota, Anne (Bob) Geist of Fenton, Michigan, Kelly (Kurt) Hulander of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Angie (Mike) Repins of Mason, Michigan. Carol also leaves 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, whom she cherished. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Vernon and Reed, and her sister, Betty. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015, from 5-8 pm at Avink Funeral home, 129 South Grand Street in Schoolcraft, Michigan. On Saturday, October 31, 2015, visitation will begin at 10:00 am at Portage United Church of Christ, 2731 West Milham Avenue, Portage, Michigan, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Vicksburg Rotary Club Foundation or to the Schoolcraft Library.
