Carol McBeth

In Loving Memory of Carol Ann McBeth

October 24, 1943 – December 29, 2024

Carol Ann McBeth, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 81. She was born on October 24, 1943, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Floyd and Margaret Brummel.

A proud graduate of William Penn College, Carol married the love of her life, Mahlon Dean McBeth, on March 22, 1963, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Together, they shared an extraordinary life for 61 years, teaching their family what it means to love another. Dean once told his granddaughters that they had never been so upset with each other that they didn't sleep in the same bed. Everyone close to Carol knew the way she devoted herself to her husband.

Carol devoted 34 years to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Her passion for teaching and her genuine care for her students left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her. Her students remember her always wearing a smile, her fabulous style, and introducing a lifelong love for reading. Carol was known for her warmth, contagious laugh, and vibrant personality that lit up every room she entered.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved son, Brett McBeth. She is survived by her daughter, Paige McBeth (Jim Cook), and her two cherished granddaughters, Lexi Whitaker (Collin) and Avery Cook. Carol’s pride and joy were her granddaughters Lexi and Avery. She loved nothing more than sharing stories of their latest adventures and she delighted in gushing about their accomplishments. Lexi and Avery were her world.

A true Iowa farm girl at heart, Carol had a deep love for her family, her home, and the land that raised her. Her commitment to her roots and her family was evident in everything she did. She was also a loyal supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes, and her home uniform was an Iowa sweatshirt and a pair of blue jeans. This sweatshirt often made her fast friends while out and about. . Her enthusiasm for college basketball was unmatched—she loved discussing the game, following the teams, and celebrating the victories.

Carol held dear to the memories of her childhood growing up on the farm. Carol loved to talk about her brilliant mother Margaret and everything she imprinted on her- like cooking pheasant or riding bareback on the horses. Her roots were evident in everything she did. She loved sweet corn, tomatoes off the vine, and tending to her beautiful flowers.

Carol was an avid golfer, she proudly achieved three hole-in-ones and earned numerous tournament wins and awards throughout the years. Carol had a competitive spirit but played with a grace that inspired others.

Carol was so much fun. She loved playing cards with her cherished girlfriends, enjoying lively conversation and "one and a half glasses of champagne." She was an elegant woman with quick wit and a meticulous sense of style. Her red nails and impeccable fashion made her a standout in any crowd. But it was the way she connected with others that made her so memorable, not just to those who loved her, but to those who hardly knew her.

Carol leaves a legacy as a woman with an incredible zest for life. Her laugh was unforgettable— one she passed down to her daughter and granddaughters. She was known for her big heart, her work ethic, and her ability to make everyone feel like they were her best friend.

There was truly only one Carol Ann McBeth. She was special in ways words cannot fully capture, and her memory will be cherished forever.
