Carol Troxell

Carol Maxine Troxell passed away at home on December 27, 2013 with her cat Smokey by her side. Carol lived in the same house in Marcellus since she was four years old. She married Richard Troxell December 21, 1949 in the front room of that same house. Richard preceded her in death in 2003 after 54 years of marriage. Carol worked several jobs in the area, including grape trimming and cooking at various restaurants over the years. She loved her town and showed it by being a member of the Marcellus Village Council for several years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her three boys as Richard was an over the road truck driver. She was well known for her baking, especially her pecan pie. Bird watching was at the top of Carol's favorite things to do. She also enjoyed watching the seasons change. Everyone knew how much she enjoyed talking on the phone with her friends and neighbors. She was a very talented artist and enjoyed painting scenes for family and friends. She will be missed by her family and friends. Carol and Richard had 3 sons, all of whom survive; Rick (Geneva), Ron (Sue) and Jim (Beth). Carol had 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Carol is also survived by her brother Harold Wright of Ocala, FL and sister-in-law Margaret Hull of Tingley, Iowa. Memorial Services: Wakelee United Methodist Church 15921 Dutch Settlement Road Marcellus, MI 49067 Private burial service will be held in the spring. Carol's family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude for all those that have helped in this difficult time of loss, especially Vicki Halifax for assisting Carol with her medical needs this year and to Mary Austin, close neighbor and friend. Thank you to the staff at the The Timbers in Dowagiac, Lee Memorial in Dowagiac and Borgess Hospital and Hospice.
