Carol A. Turner, Portage, passed away peacefully at Bronson Hospital following a massive stroke. Ever the humorist, it came as no surprise to her family that she would depart this life on Friday the 13th, 2012.
She was born on July 19, 1928 to Sanford E. and Virginia Allerton in Mendon, Michigan. As a child, Carol loved to play baseball with the boys and fish with her father. She was a generous, kind-hearted person who put the needs of others ahead of her own. She took loving care of her cats and birds.
Surviving are Carol's 4 children and their spouses, Markie Meinert, Micki (Ron) Pitkin, Merilee (Steve) Lovelace, and Michael (Pamela) Turner. Carol also is survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a nephew and niece in California. Carol was predeceased by her parents and brother, Dr. Samuel E. Allerton.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being made through Avink Funeral Home Cremation Society. Please visit their online guestbook and sign Carol's Book of Memories. A celebration of Carol's life will take place at a later date with the family.
