Charles Hanner

Hanner, Charles 10/23/1940 - 11/19/2016 Kalamazoo, MI Charles Melvin Hanner, 76, Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on November 19, 2016. Charles was born in Detroit, Michigan and met and married Josefa Hanner while stationed in Puerto Rico with the Army. Charles and Josefa owned and operated Hanner's IGA for almost 30 Years in Ossineke, MI, Charles served as President of the local Chamber of Commerce for 3 years. They retired to Kalamazoo in 1996 and Charles worked both in produce and as a greeter at Meijer's on Westnedge. Finally retiring again in 2013. Charles is survived by his wife, Josefa and their three daughters. Aleda Gilmore and her husband Ralph and their three children Bailey, Bronwyn and Trey. Marelyn Krueger and her husband Jeff and their three children Elliott, Scout and Addison. Krisca Gould and her husband Richard and their two children Taine and Kees. The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on November 25, 2016 at St. Catherine Church, 2188 W Nicholson Hill Rd. Ossineke, MI 49766. Charles better known to his family and friends as Chuck was an avid wood crafter. This hobby has awarded him the joy of sharing his craft with so many people. Chuck made everyone he met an instant friend and had a joke at every opportunity. He was best known to say when asked how he was, "My wife would say I am better than nothing."
