Constance Bishop Wright

Constance B. (Claflin) Wright of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the age of 96 at Friendship Village. She was born in Ann Arbor, MI on Saturday, February 5, 1927 the daughter of Earl and Edith (Tirrill) Claflin.

Constance graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1945, and from Bronson School of Nursing in Kalamazoo, MI in 1948. She worked at Bronson Methodist Hospital, followed by Borgess Medical Center until her retirement at the of age 65. In 1948, she married Gordon L. Wright. They resided many years in the Milwood area of Kalamazoo and were lifelong members of the Milwood Methodist Church. Gordon died in 1995. Both he and Constance are interned at Oakhill Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI.

She is survived by her children: Forest J. Wright of Paw Paw, MI, Michele D. Kozminske of Mattawan, MI and Tracy D. Wright of Ann Arbor, MI; as well as many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. At the age of 70, Constance moved to Friendship Village in Kalamazoo with her loving partner, Andrew Thornton, and they resided there for many years. Constance is predeceased in death by both Gordon and Andrew, as well as her parents, and all of her siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held at Friendship Village, Kiva, on December 6, 2023 between 2-4 PM. Her family is grateful to the compassionate care of the staff there, as well as those at Elara Hospice. Constance was a gentle caregiver all of her adult life and she is now in the loving care of God in Heaven. "Well done my good and faithful servant"
