Cynthia Ann Corey

With a journey that spanned times of great change in the world around her, Cynthia Corey lived a rich and rewarding life filled with so many amazing experiences with the ones she loved. She was the sort of person who never let the little things worry her, rather, she faced whatever came her way with unwavering strength and resilience. Cynthia was deeply devoted to her family, and she was so proud to witness her family tree blossom to include the grandchildren and great-grandson who filled her heart with joy. Life will never be the same without her here, but she leaves behind a priceless collection of memories that her loved ones will forever hold near and dear to their hearts. During the first half of the 1940s, the eyes of our nation were focused overseas as WWII raged on. As countless young servicemen and women had answered the call to serve, those who remained stateside became familiar with rationing on common goods such as rubber, sugar, coffee, and canned goods. It was also during this time that Raymond and Helen Glowaczewski were pleased to announce the birth of the baby girl they named Cynthia Ann on October 8, 1944, in New York. She was the second of three children as she was raised in the family home alongside her brother, Ray, and her sister, Susan. Cynthia's parents were hard working farmers. New and exciting changes were in store for Cynthia when she met the young man of her dreams. He was a young serviceman named Allen Eugene "Gene" Corey, and they met after being introduced by a mutual friend. Sparks flew right from the start, and they began dating. It didn't take the couple long to fall deeply in love. With a desire to spend the rest of their lives together Cynthia and Gene were married on November 5, 1966, in Pine Island, New York. The newlyweds made their home back in Gene's hometown of Vicksburg, Michigan. Together they welcomed three daughters including Karen, Kristine, and Diane into their hearts and home. Due to Gene's work, their family moved quite frequently. Over the years they lived all around the country, which gave their girls amazing and varied experiences. Although vacations were rare in their family, they did make it a priority to travel to New York to spend time visiting with her family. In addition to caring for her home and family, Cynthia worked at Upjohn until retiring. With her free time, she liked tending to her flower gardens, playing tennis, and reading suspense thrillers. There was never anything of greater significance in Cynthia's life than her family. When her daughters married and had families of their own, she couldn't have been more thrilled. Cynthia loved being a grandmother and was always available to her girls for whatever they needed. She especially loved taking care of her nine grandchildren. Through the example she set, Cynthia's family learned what unconditional love and sacrifice truly is. All who knew Cynthia Corey would agree that she was beautiful on the inside and out. She could be a bit strong willed when it came to things she was passionate about, but she was also one of the most caring people around. Independent and strong, Cynthia made the most of each and every moment she was given. Deeply loved, she will be forever missed.
