Dale Rush Rounds, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at his home on Pine Lake in Plainwell, Mich. He was 74.
Dale was born March 25, 1946 in Kalamazoo, Mich., to John William and Phoebe Matilda (McNett) Rounds. Dale served his country as a Specialist First Class in the U.S. Army’s Hawk Missile Unit in Panama from 1965-67. He earned a sharpshooter badge during his time in the Army and, in his later years, he liked to tell stories of his years in Panama. He retired from Pfizer Corp. (formerly Upjohn Co.) after more than 30 years as a pipefitter/plumber. He played baseball, coached his daughters’ soccer teams, and skied competitively. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing and boating, playing with his dogs, and winters at his home in Englewood, Fla.
On October 23, 1971, he married Mary Ann Nay, who survives. Also surviving are daughters Teresa Marie (Greg) Newell and Kristina Michelle (David) Leitz; grandson Olan Leitz; brother Joseph Rounds; sister Alma Stone; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters John Rounds, Barbara Frye, Robert Rounds, Marion Cochran, and infant sister Ruth. A special thanks to his wonderful neighbors and friends during his illness.
A memorial celebration will be held in the summer. He will be interred at Fort Custer near Augusta. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan in Kalamazoo, Christian Neighbors in Plainwell or Suncoast Humane Society in Englewood, Fla.
