Daniel Jay Schuring Portage, MI, Dan passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 64. He was born December 18, 1955 in Kalamazoo, the son of John and Margaret (Newmeyer) Schuring. Dan was a semi driver for USF Holland for many years and had also worked for Kalamazoo County Road Commission. He was a graduate of Portage Central High School and served in the Armed Forces of the United States. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was on the K’aces Disc Golfing League and owner of Black Waters Custom Fishing Rods. Dan loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Dan had a way to make you laugh hysterically that brought joy to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Schuring and brother, Mark Koning.
Dan is survived by his five children, Joshua Sampson of Kalamazoo; Nicole Burrows of Bangor; Jonathan Schuring of Portage; Steven Schuring of Kalamazoo; Danielle (Schuring) Beck of Portage; nine grandchildren, Destiny, Madisun, Ethan, Micah, Jayce, Kristyne, Lily, Sophia, and Dominick; a great grandchild, Esmea.
He is also survived by his mother, Margaret (Newmeyer) Schuring of Portage; two sisters, Mary Schuring of Portage; Ruth (Schuring) Martin of Texas; brother, Mark Schuring of Portage.
According of his wish’s cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at 16490 Moorepark Road, Three Rivers, MI 49093 at Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 2pm.
