David Ray

David S. Ray died in Kalamazoo MI on December 23, 2009. Mr. Ray was born in Cuba IL on February 10, 1917 to Clayton and Ruth Ray. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1939 and began a career as a commercial artist in Chicago. During World War II, David Ray served in the South Pacific with the United States Army’s 227th Station Hospital. David married Marian Lee (1919-1984) in 1953 and moved to Grand Rapids MI in 1954, where he worked in advertising. In 1985, he married Dorothy Comstock and settled in Kalamazoo.

Mr. Ray is survived by his son Scott L. Ray of Carmel IN and his family, his son Blake E. Ray of Detroit MI, and his wife Dorothy and her family. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 11 AM at Friendship Village, 1400 N. Drake Road, Kalamazoo, MI. Arrangements are being handled by the Life Story Funeral Home, 5975 Lovers Lane, Portage (344-5600).
