Dawaine Krier passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family at the age of 89 on October 7, 2023. Dawaine was born May 1, 1934 in Aberdeen, South Dakota; the son of Lewis and Viola Krier. He moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in his early twenties.
He worked in the Paper Mill before starting and owning his second hand store- The Red Flea in Portage, Michigan for many years.
Dawaine loved to travel. After retirement, Dawaine spent the cold Michigan winter’s in Florida with his wife Sharon. He enjoyed playing golf and shuffleboard, visiting Fort Myers Beach and having his children and grandchildren come to visit. When he was back in Michigan he loved to spend time with his family, go to K-wings hockey games, the casino, and going out for ice cream together. He loved to host family get togethers with his great cooking and enjoyed being the life of the party. Dawaine will always be remembered for his strength, easy-going spirit, big sense of humor, and his love for his family.
Surviving are his children, Chad Krier and Lora (Darrell) Burchett both of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Travis (Amber), Chad Jr. (Jeni), Kristi (Nicholas), Kalie (Tyler) and many great-grandchildren with one more on the way. Also surviving are his brothers Robert and Kenneth. Preceding him in death are his wife, Sharon; parents, Lewis and Viola and two siblings; Lois and Melvin. Dawaine will be laid to rest with his wife at Mt. Everest Cemetery in Kalamazoo.
