Dixie Stratton

Dixie Stratton of Plainwell passed away, with her family by her side, at the age of 88 at Borgess Hospital. She was born on August 4, 1935, to Edwin and Gladys (Cole) Marsh. Dixie was the fourth child of eight and attended Plainwell schools.

She married Robert Stratton on January 1, 1951, and they had been married for seventy years. Dixie enjoyed cooking, flowers, birds, and babies. Her family came first at all costs. She loved the time that Bob and she spent at their cabin in Hillman and eating ice cream together at Dean’s. 

Dixie is survived by her children, Danny (Terry) Stratton, Diann (Dave) Santman, Dennis (Margaret) Stratton, and daughter-in-law Judy (Allen) Stratton. Her sister, Ethlyn Edgerly, twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a son, Douglas, and her siblings, Patricia, Leroy, Charles, Leonard, Louis, and Pearl.

Dixie has been cremated per her wishes. There will be no formal funeral, but a small family gathering will be held at a later date after the interment of ashes.
