Rich, Dolores Faye Dolores (Dee) Faye Rich (nee Doak) of Friendship Village in Kalamazoo, Michigan, born December 19, 1928 in Muskegon, Michigan died Tuesday September 24, 2013 at Rose Arbor Hospice. She was a 50 year resident of the Kalamazoo area, living previously in Eaton Rapids MI., Belleville MI, and Jackson MI. Her parents were Paul G. Doak and Alice V. (Ackley) Doak of Eaton Rapids, MI. Dee graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1950, and married her high school sweetheart Thomas Dean Rich in Eaton Rapids on August 20, 1950. She was preceded in death by Tom in 2007. Surviving her are four sons, Michael Rich and Susan of Indianapolis, Indiana and grandson Scott Rich, wife Kelly and two great grandsons Michael and Nicholas, granddaughter Jessica Ribeiro wife of Daniel and great granddaughter Avielle; Bruce Rich of Boca Raton, Florida and granddaughter Michelle; Doug Rich and wife Kelly of Pleasant Ridge, Michigan and granddaughter Melissa; and Bruno Gimbert and wife Evelyn of Vaugnerary, France and grandsons Sylvain and Raphael. She taught elementary school in Portage Michigan for 22 years before retiring in June 1985. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Portage having served as Deacon, and a long standing choir member. She and Tom were very active in community volunteer services including Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes, Meal on Wheels, and the American Field Service. Forty years ago they were selected by AFS to host a French exchange student, Bruno, which has resulted in numerous Rich/Gimbert family connections over the decades, and encouraged Mike, Susan, Scott and Jessica to host Mareike Hoermann of Germany. Memorial services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1515 Helen Street, Portage, Michigan on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Visitation at 11:00 am, and service at 12:00 pm. Reception to follow immediately. At her request, internment of her ashes will be held for family members at the Westminster Memorial Garden following the reception, and the Eaton Rapids Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes, Rose Arbor Hospice, or your charity of choice in her honor.
