Donald Eugene Quakenbush Sr. passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020 in his home at the age of 90. He was born in Bangor, Michigan at the family home on June 30, 1930. Don was the son of Bert & Fannie (Martin) Quakenbush.
After school he joined the Air Force and served for two years. He joined the service because he wanted to fly, but later found out he was color blind, so he wasn't allowed to. Instead he worked for the Air Force Postal Service and one of his jobs was to pick up $50,000 worth of payroll to pay the service men every month. While serving in the Air Force he ran into the movie star Alan Ladd. After serving in the Air Force, he moved on to a career in the floor covering business for 50 years, until he retired. He was very skilled and could fix and build anything.
He is survived by his son: Donald (Bonnie) Quakenbush Jr.; three grandchildren: Tracy Ridenour, Donnie Quakenbush III, Kellie Quakenbush; four great-grandchildren: Rodney Arnott, Courtney Miracle, Kaitlyn Quakenbush, and Joshua Quakenbush; three great-great grandchildren: Isabella and Lawson; and many cousins.
Don will be missed by many. No service will be held at this time.
