Doris Marie Endsley

Doris Marie Endsley of Schoolcraft, MI passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 7:25 a.m. surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born in Schoolcraft in the family farmhouse on May 10, 1925, to Mabel (Hill) and William Horn. Doris grew up on the farm and told many stories of riding her horse, Topsy, bareback. She graduated from Schoolcraft High School in 1943 and then attended cosmetology school. Doris married Robert Endsley and together they had two children. She worked as a hairdresser with a shop called Powder Puff in her house. During WWII, Doris worked in a planes and tank factory. She was a caregiver to all, even friends of friends and her beloved pets.  In her last days, she had her dogs JLO and Sophie with her all the time. She fiercely loves Jesus and her family and was always ready for a chat about both.  Wanting to stay connected, it tickled her to get phone calls and hear what was going on in the family.   Doris rarely sat still having so much to do. One holiday the family had to sit Doris between her grandson and son-in-law and their job was to keep her seated so she would enjoy the meal and not run to the kitchen.

Doris is survived by her children: Kathy (Steve) Markey and Mischelle (Ron) Endsley-Deneau; her grandchildren: JR Batek and Courtney (Ron) Trumbull, Victoria Taylor and Mikayla Taylor; her great grandchildren: Jack Batek, Cecelia Batek and Adora Trumbull as well as several nieces and nephews. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and her siblings.
