Dorothy Jean Butch passed away on May 14 2015. Dorothy (Dottie) was born in Signal Ohio on July 26 1932, the daughter of William and Bessie (Hawkins) Drummond. Dottie retired from the IBM Corporation in 1991. After retirement she was a volunteer at the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo and worked at Portage Community Education Center (PCEC). Dottie was also involved with a volunteer group in Matlache, FL, was an active volunteer for both Obama campaigns and was a longtime volunteer at Michigan Blood. Dottie and Paul, her husband, lived in Vicksburg, MI for many years. In 1999, after spending several winters in Florida, she and Paul moved to their new home in Cape Coral, FL. In 2007 they moved back to Portage, MI. Survivors include her husband Paul, to whom she was married in 1952; two daughters, Paula (Andy) Flanagan of Chicago and their daughter, Francie; Melinda Boccia and her husband, Brad Page, of Benton Harbor, MI and her daughters, McKenna, Emma, and Eliza Northrop, and her son Zakery Northrop. Also surviving is Dottie's son, Kevin, his wife, Beverly McBrien, step grandson, Jack Schmitt of Kalamazoo, MI, and so many very special friends in Ohio, Michigan, Texas and Florida. Her sister, Mary Hostnik of East Palestine, Ohio also survives. She was preceded in death by both her parents and a sister, Ruth Beight. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no services or visitation at this time. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at Ft Custer National Cemetery. Dot will always be remembered for her stylish flair, tremendous generosity, and love of a great bargain. The world has lost a bit of its sparkle without Dottie in it.
