Dorothy Crawford

Crawford, Dorothy Katherine Schoolcraft, Michigan Dorothy passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 surrounded by family. Dorothy was born October 24, 1931 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Samuel and Blanche Ickes. Dorothy had 7 brothers, Raymond, Arnold, Henry, Roland, LeRoy, Jack, Harold and one sister Arlene , all who preceded her in death. Dorothy was a graduate of Schoolcraft High School and on February 11, 1950 married the love of her life, Daniel Crawford. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2014. Dorothy was an avid bowler, golfer and loved her flower garden. She also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and watching her children and grandchildren play sports. Dorothy served her savior at church by playing the piano and organ during the Sunday church service, was active in UMW , served at the Friday night suppers and July 4th celebrations. She was also devout Detroit Tiger fan. Dorothy is survived by her children: Mae (Ken) Pfost, Bradley Crawford, David (Debbie) Crawford and Joy (Stephen) Westra, along with 8 grandchildren: Todd Pfost, Jason (Kristin) Crawford, David A. Crawford, Jennifer (Jeff) Gorcyca, Renee (Matt) Marshall, Dayton Pfost, Danielle Westra, and Jordan (Maegan) Westra and 7 Great Grandchildren, Savanna Crawford, Isabella Crawford, Charlie Gorcyca, Eloise Marshall, Evelyn Marshall, Amelia Marshall and Aubrey Crawford. Last but not least her faithful companion "Eli" her dog. Cremation has taken place and the family will receive friends and family Monday, June 13, 2016 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at the United Methodist Church, 342 N. Grand Street, Schoolcraft, Michigan 49087 with a Celebration Service immediately following at the church. There will be a luncheon held after the service at the Portage Eagles (Post 3531) 11611 S. Shaver Rd., Schoolcraft, Michigan 49087-8467. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to Hospice of S.W. Michigan or the Schoolcraft United Methodist Church in honor of Dorothy's life.
