Departed this life peacefully at her residence on Sunday Jan. 24, 2010. Born June 14, 1920 in Courtland, NY, daughter of Pitt E. and Della H. (Hinds) Fox. Married Merle Ellis on Nov. 26, 1945, who survives. Dorothy was a teacher in Port Byron, NY and served in the U.S. Navy as a Wave during WWII. She was a homemaker, an Upjohn employee and worked in the family business, Ellis Sales Inc. Retired in 1980 to the FL Keyes and returned to MI in 1999. She had one sister, Betty Jo Riblet who preceded her in death. Surviving are her son Gerald R. Ellis and his wife Alicia (Gonzalez); grandchildren; Michael and Penny (Scharf) Ellis, Jolie A. Ellis and step-granddaughter Vanessa K. Romero; niece Judy Rhodes (Richard) and several other relatives and friends. At her request cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
