Duane Vander Ploeg

Duane Calvin Vanderploeg, 76, passed away on November 14, 2024, at his home in Martin, Michigan. He was born October 27, 1948, to Johanas and Bertha (Scholton) Vanderploeg. Duane was a self-employed builder.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children Michelle Vanderploeg and Joe (Michelle Wells) Vanderploeg, His loving partner of 18 ½ years Darlene Wiborn, her son Jon (Kelsey) and her daughter April (Gabe), grandchildren Chelsea (Kyle) Charlie, great grandchildren Harper, Kennedy and Brantley, his sister Judi (David) Oglesbee and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his ex-wife Colleen and his siblings, Jake Vanderploeg, Cornelius Vanderploeg, Gerald Vanderploeg, Alice Kraima, Shirley Knowlton, Alvin Vanderploeg, Josephine Vanderploeg, Henry Vanderploeg, Bonnie Earl and Simon Vanderploeg as well as his loving dog Duke.

Visit with family and friends on Wednesday, November 20 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 120 South Woodhams Street, Plainwell, MI 49080 (269) 685-5881. Duane’s funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 21 at the same location. Following the funeral there will be a graveside committal service at East Martin Cemetery and a luncheon at the Martin United Methodist Church.
