Edward L. Bogenski, a professional engineer for over forty years, died unexpectedly on January 27, 2019
at the age of 70 while at home.
Ed is survived by his wife Sandra (Sam, nee McClive); his sister, Rebecca Bogenski Welham (Steve), and
many extended family. He is predeceased by his mother, Dolores Marie Bogenski (nee Groch); and his
father George Stanley Bogenski.
Ed was born in Michigan City, Indiana on April 6, 1948. He graduated from Elston High School in 1966,
and Purdue University where he graduated with an engineering degree in 1972.
He began work at David J. Ross Engineering Firm as a draftsman while attending high school. He worked
for Turner Construction International in Saudi Arabia where he was the project manager overseeing the
construction of the King Faisal Hospital for the Saudi Arabian Royal Cabinet and the Mobile Oil
Corporation housing. He also was the project manager for the construction of the Standard Oil building
in Chicago. He enjoyed working personal projects including house renovating and problem solving all
things mechanical and electrical.
He was an avid sportsman along with his wife that included ski trips in the Rockies and Sierra Nevada
Mountains, windsurfing and boating on Gun Lake, hiking and biking. Those that knew Ed will remember
his sense of humor and wit.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00-4:00pm on February 16 at the Root Funeral Home on 312 East
7th St., Michigan City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to : Orangeville Firefighters Association,
