Edythe Marian Snow
1928-2023
KALAMAZOO – Edythe Marian Snow, 95, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born on June 26, 1928, in Essexville, Michigan, to the late Burch Holmes and Marian L. Enszer.
Edythe, also known as Grandma and Aunt Edie, was a kind-hearted and fun-loving individual who always had a smile on her face. She had a generous spirit and dedicated her time to volunteering. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Edythe had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh with her jokes.
In her professional life, Edythe worked as a bookkeeper at ADF Accounting where she excelled in her role. She handled various duties, including the front desk, for 30 years.
Edythe was actively involved in the development of the Comstock Community Center (The Fish) with her beloved husband Gene. In fact, Edythe was recognized as the longest-serving volunteer, devoting more than 50 years to the center. In the early days at The Fish, Edythe taught classes for mothers on various household responsibilities. She also helped with health clinics, front desk duties and whatever else was needed.
Edythe enjoyed reading and organizing lunches at church for weddings and funerals. She also loved watching and cheering on her grandson Daryn as he played baseball and, in later years, football and basketball. During the winter months, she and Gene loved escaping to Cocoa Beach for three months.
Surviving Edythe is her sister, Virginia (Carl) Thurston; her daughter, Terri Snow; her son, Scott Snow; grandson, Daryn Snow; daughter-in-law, Lisa Franks; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Gene Snow; a brother, Eugene P. Stansbury; a sister, Clementine Farrell; her nieces, Sally Beeson and Sheryl Stansbury; and a nephew, Brian Stansbury.
A memorial service to celebrate Edythe’s life will be held on Saturday, September 9, at 11 a.m. at the Kalamazoo Covenant Church, 5708 East Main Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49048.
