Elida Muniz

Elida Muniz of Kalamazoo, Michigan passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the age of 80. She was born May 18, 1942 in Mercedes, Texas. Elida was one of 8 children born to Guadalupe and Matilde Espinoza. She grew up in South Texas where she enjoyed dancing and traveling. Elida married Ruben on November 27, 1965, celebrating their 56th anniversary last November.

Elida enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by many. She was a homemaker known for being a talented seamstress. Elida loved watching her grandchildren play sports and participate in extra curricular activities.

She is survived by her husband Ruben; son: Ron (Audrey) Muniz; daughter: Diana (Jason) Lewis; daughter-in-law: Sheila (Ed) Muniz; her grandchildren: Tyler (Bree) Muniz, Colin (Sarah) Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Jadyn Muniz; and great grandchildren: Breck Muniz, Liam Lewis and Madison Muniz. She is also survived by a brother: Wenceslado Espinoza; sisters: Ninfa McConnel, Juanita Romero, and Maria Elena Bamberg; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Elida is preceded in death by her son: Ed Muniz; brother: Jesse Espinoza; and sisters Lupita Rodriguez and Irene Maldonado.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and luncheon to honor Elida will be held from 1:00pm until 4:00pm on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Otsego Township Hall, 400 North 16th Street, Otsego, MI 49078.
