Elija Zane Esman

Elija Z. Esman, of Kalamazoo passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 at the age of 29. Elija was born on August 10, 1993 in San Luis Obispo, CA. He was the son of Sean Esman and Lyn Woodward.

Eli had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel and be outdoors. He enjoyed going hiking, camping, swimming, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was very athletic and liked to go on runs, and do parkour, which he was very good at. He also liked to cook and watch movies and play games. More than anything, he enjoyed hanging out with friends, sharing meals with loved ones and having long conversations about life.

Eli also loved to go to church and will be missed dearly by his Church Family at Lighthouse of Prayer. Also, by his close friend in God Laura Cosgrove, and his other closest friends Paul Pomerleau, Nicholas Arbanas and Taha Bzizi.

Eli was proceeded in death by his nephew Tyler; his uncle: Larry Woodward; his cousin: Brandon Woodward; and his grandmothers: Marilynn Johnson and Barbara Knarian.

Left to cherish Eli's memory are his mother and father: Lyn Woodward and Sean Esman; his stepmother: Victoria Esman; his sister: Serena; his brother: Cameron; his grandfather: Moe Knarian; many aunts, uncles and cousins; his close friends; and his beloved dog: Epoch.
