Ellen Marie Nally

Ellen Marie Nally, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world on July 2, 2023, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with her daughter Melissa McKee by her side. She was born on November 14, 1942, in Plainwell, Michigan, to Clifford Sage and Jane Demorest.

Ellen is survived by her loving children, son Kyle Nally and daughter Melissa (Timothy) McKee. Her granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Gabriella, and Jaelee McKee, brought immense joy to her life, and her great-granddaughter, Khloe Hampton, was truly the sunshine of her life. Ellen is also survived by her siblings: Joyce (the late Terry) Thomas, Kay (Bob) Knitter, and Clif (Laura) Sage. She leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and her very special best friend, Judy Kiel.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Jane Sage, her beloved husband and soulmate, John "Jerry" Nally, and her dear friend, Chuck Kiel.

After dedicating many years as a devoted stay-at-home mom, Ellen joined the McDonald's family, where she worked for nearly 30 years. Through her work, she formed lasting friendships and enjoyed engaging with her community, always eager to share a conversation and a smile.

Ellen's hobbies brought her much joy and fulfillment. She found solace in bird watching, took delight in tending to her flowers, and cherished moments spent with her family. She also embarked on exciting shopping adventures and frequent yard sale outings with her dear friend Judy.

Ellen will be remembered for her deep love for her family and friends, as well as her unique combination of love and sassiness. Her infectious spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ellen's name to Kairos Dwelling hospice home in Kalamazoo. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

In accordance with the family’s wishes a public time for visiting will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 120 South Woodhams Street, Plainwell, MI 49080, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Ellen will be laid to rest with her late husband: John Nally at St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery following the visitation. 

Forever in our hearts, Ellen Marie Nally will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
