Ellen Page-Robin, aged 82, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, died on January 3rd, 2015. She was born, June 27th, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio, the only child of Adrian Page and Alice King Page. She attended Ohio State University where she earned Bachelors and Masters of Arts degrees in sociology. She earned her Doctorate of Philosophy from Purdue University in 1970, all while having three children and taking care of her family during her marriage to Stanley Robin. She was a Professor of Community Health Services and Sociology at Western Michigan University from 1965 to 1998, teaching courses in sociology and gerontology. She was the founder and director of the Gerontology Program at Western Michigan University from 1976 to 1998. She was a mentor in particular to many young women and fostered their academic careers. She was active in the community; among her many activities she served as President of the Board of Kalamazoo Senior Services, on the Board of Directors of Friendship Village in Kalamazoo, and as Western Michigan University Faculty Senate President. She was a feminist and believed in and worked for social justice on campus, in the community, and within her own life and family. She was a world traveler who also loved music, murder mysteries, reading, and eye-catching shoes and hats. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian Page and Alice King Page and by her son, Paul Samuel Robin. She is survived by her son, David Page Robin, his wife, Jan Lyth, and her granddaughter, Stacey Robin; by her late son Paul's spouse, Jan Rembert; and by her daughter, Leah Ellen Robin and her husband, David Kelman; and by two beloved cat companions, Tobisue and Tinkerbell.
