PLATSKE, Emil F. Kalamazoo Passed away July 28, 2013 at Bronson Hospital. He was born August 15, 1926 in Ewen, Mi , the son of Emil Sr. and Elizabeth (Gerber) Platske. Emil was a veteran of World War II having served in Germany as a tank crewman with the 36th Tank Battation of the 8th Armored Division After discharge from the Army, he entered Michigan Tech and pursued a degree in Civil- Engineering, which was followed by a lifetime career in the Engineering of Highways & Byways. This included 17 yrs with the Michigan State Highway Dept. 5 with Hoffman Construction Co. and the last 38 yrs in private practice. On June 18, 1949 in Ewen, he married Frances M. Carpenter who survives Also surviving are two daughters; Katherine Ann (David) Lipka of Galesburg and Susan Marie Teague of Paw Paw, four grandsons, and seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. Emil was preceded in death by brothers; Thomas of Ewen and Wi1lian of Bruce Crossing. Surviving is brother; Edward (Dorie) of Highbridge, WI and sister; Elizabeth (Donald) Cameron of St. Paul, MN plus many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11AM Wednesday July 31, 2013 at the Heritage Reformed Church on 11th St.
