Evelyn "Winnie" Hagen
Evelyn "Winnie" Hagen, 99, died June 30, 2012 at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had been a resident for the past eight years. She was born Feb. 9, 1913 in Benton Harbor, Michigan the daughter of Robert and Edythe Capen. She attended Benton Harbor High School. In 1934 she married Edward E. Hagen and they continued to live in Benton Harbor until 1947 when they purchased a grocery store in Keeler, Michigan. In 1965 they sold the Keeler store and moved to Riverside. Mrs. Hagen worked for several years in the offices of the Boy Scouts of America and also for the American Cancer Society. Later, Mrs. Hagen resided in Encinitas, California until illness forced her to return to Michigan to be closer to family.
Mrs. Hagen was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, her husband and two granddaughters.
She is survived by her three children, Edward R. Hagen of Lawrence, Sue Cobianco of Kalispell, Montana and Marilyn Willenbrink of Bluffton, SC. Also, two sisters, Florence Saltzman of Spring, Texas and Fern Hull of Laguna Hills, CA. as well as nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at a later date. Memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.
