Gary Junior Hobson, age 58 of Hephzibah, Georgia; formerly of Marcellus, Michigan passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Augusta Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.

Gary was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on November 26, 1962 the son of Phillip Gary Hobson and Kathryn King. On August 17, 1986 in Vanceburg, Kentucky Gary married the love of his life Cathryn (Sights) Young, who sadly preceded him in death February 10, 2005.

Gary and Cathryn were residents of Marcellus, Michigan before moving to Constantine, Michigan in 1996. Gary was a factory worker, who worked for many years at HLI in Bristol, Indiana after starting in 1994. After moving to Georgia, he became a foreman at Wayne Steelwater Safe in Aiken, South Carolina. When Gary was not working at the foundry, he enjoyed spending his time with his family or outdoors fishing, geocaching, and camping.

Gary is survived by his mother Kathryn (Saul) Lafferty of Hephzibah, Georgia; children Jaimee Young of Dowagiac, Michigan, Janice (Daniel) Ludlow of Marcellus, Michigan, Jim (Michelle Foley) Young of Longmont, Colorado; sister Kelly Jane (Robert) Sullivan of Hephzibah, Georgia; brother William A Hobson of Escondido, California; grandsons Ashton Young of Longmont, Colorado, Brenden Ludlow of Lexington, Kentucky and Blake Payton of Marcellus, Michigan; granddaughter Morgan (Arnando Burgos) Ludlow of Marcellus, Michigan; and great-grandson Jaxon Burgos of Marcellus, Michigan.

Gary is preceded in death by his wife Cathryn A. Hobson and father Phillip Gary Hobson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, 52780 M-40 North, Marcellus. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm.
